Week/Weekend Wrap Up: NYC –> LA

The week began in NYC at the Ronald McDonald gala at the Waldorf and has “ended” in LA. I am currently writing this at my parent’s house in LA by the pool. And I absolutely LOVE it!

I felt so lucky to attend the Ronald McDonald gala on Monday – I was reminded once again how fragile the human body is; watching the videos of the children and families who have been guests of the Ronald McDonald House was both heart breaking and inspiring.

The weather was warm enough for dinner outside on Wednesday, so we tried out Pera in Soho. I was super excited (I’m obsessed with eating/drinking/doing anything outside when it’s nice out), but we left a little disappointed.

The space was beautiful, but the service was slow, and my snapper was dry.

After Pera, we went to the James Hotel for some delicious outdoor cocktails. See? I’m obsessed with being outside.

Thursday we had cocktails at Middle Branch before I headed to the airport on Friday. The “Troublemaker” is absolutely delicious – gin + strawberry = winning combination!

And so far today, I’ve worked out, hung out by the pool with my family, and relaxed. It’s been amazing!

Personal Style File: Ronald McDonald event + work meetings

This week was a crazy one at work (as they tend to be)!

Monday kicked off with the Ronald McDonald event at the Waldorf, and I wore a Cynthia Rowley dress that reminded me of The Great Gatsby with it’s ruffled skirt.

The rest of the week in NYC was very humid and spent in different appointments. Tuesday I chose wide leg printed Zara pants, and Wednesday I wore a printed silk Loft skirt with my favorite striped J. Crew blazer.

Thursday and Friday it down poured – I paired a J. Crew gingham shift dress with my Hunter boots. And Friday, when I flew to LA, I broke out my new printed J. Crew pants. Obsessed!

Currently Obsessed with: Navy + White

I’ve noticed that I’ve purchased several navy + white combinations in the last few months – they feel so fresh and clean!

Vacation Destination: Los Angeles

I’ve been counting down for about 3 months, and it’s finally here – I’m flying home to LA on Friday! I will be home for a full 8 days, and I could not be more excited.

On the agenda:

  • My brother teaching me to surf (finally!)
  • Eating and drinking my way through LA with my sister and brother
  • Laying by the pool with my mom
  • Catching up on (our) TV shows with my dad
  • Laying on the couch reading/relaxing/doing nothing and not feeling guilty

This is a much needed vacation after 6 months away from my family, and I.Cannot.Wait.

Week/Weekend Wrap Up: Work Outs & Meals Out

Wednesday I took a Bari class in Tribeca and decided to walk home. We passed the James Hotel and decided to stop from some sangria at Novecento on the way.

I had a work dinner at Del Frisco’s Grille on Thursday, and it was amazing to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather!

A long work week meant beers at Bierhaus on Friday and brunch at Maialino on Saturday.

Personal Style File: Stripes!

I wore stripes almost every day this week! I paired them with animal and floral prints and colored bottoms – I’m always looking for a fresh way to wear my stripes.

BariMICRO at Bari Tribeca

The other night a girlfriend and I took at BariMICRO class at Bari Tribeca: “Consisting of little to no cardio, BariMICRO is a total body conditioning class. The workout includes the use of props such as the barre, Bari reigns, Bari balls, and Bari skimmers to target each muscle group, sculpting a lean, long figure from head to toe.”

The web site might say there’s little cardio, but I was sweating and my heart was definitely pounding by the end.

We used a series of props, including resistance bands, weights, and moveable barres. We warmed up using the bands, which consisted of multiple arm and leg moves – my butt is still sore.

We moved on to working with portable mini barres (first time I’ve seen these in a class) and mats to do leg and core work with weights. We finished with more core work on the mat.

Michelle, our instructor, was super friendly. She introduced herself before class and took the time to find the newbies. She was also hands on in correcting my form during mat work – I’m not very coordinated with a weight behind my knee! After class, Michelle took chatted with us, asked for feedback about the class, and was curious about our usual work out routines.

After attending the Bari + Treasure & Bond event, I was really excited about Bari pops, but there weren’t any available the other night. One more reason to go back.

I have to say, the Bari food and juices looked healthy and nutritious, if a bit expensive. Next time I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll have to pick up a snack.
